wildcard gaming co owned by popular streamer amouranth has re entered dota 2
Loading, please wait…Wildcard Gaming, an esports organization co-owned by popular streamer Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa, has re-entered the competitive Dota 2 scene by signing the North American roster of
Apex Genesis.
Wildcard Gaming's Dota 2 roster is as follows:
Wildcard first entered the Dota 2 scene in 2021 and became a regular competitor in the now-defunct Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) and its North American regional league. However, the organisation quietly exited from the scene in 2023 following Dota 2 developer Valve Software's decision to put an end to the DPC.
Wildcard now makes its return to Dota 2 to help breathe life into the long-struggling North American scene. And unlike its first venture, this time the organisation is under the co-ownership of popular streamer Amouranth.
Amouranth, one of the world's most popular content creators, is widely known for her presence on various platforms. She boasts an impressive following, with over 3.8 million followers on X (formerly Twitter) and 6.2 million on Twitch. In June 2024, she became the co-owner of Wildcard, marking her first foray into the esports industry.
Wildcard now fields teams across three titles: Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), Rainbow Six: Siege, and most recently, Dota 2. Amouranth has also been active in supporting her players, even attending events such as the DreamHack Atlanta CS2 tournament.
This announcement brings some optimism to the struggling North American Dota 2 scene. Over the past year, the region has faced significant setbacks: Evil Geniuses exited the Dota 2 scene, Nouns Esports disbanded after The International (TI) 2024, and Cloud9 have remained inactive, showing no signs of returning for the new season.
With no major North American organizations actively participating, Wildcard's return is a welcome development. However, the team still has much to prove, as the roster has yet to compete at tier-one events and will likely need time to develop.
Wildcard is currently competing in the DreamLeague Season 25: North America qualifiers and is preparing to vie for spots in upcoming events, including PGL Wallachia Season 3 and FISSURE PLAYGROUND #1.
